Waunakee's sister-owned independent bookstore Your dream bookshop isn't just a fantasy. Welcome to Soulbound Books, founded in 2026 by local sisters Katie Rittenhouse and Elizabeth Arpin. Nestled in the heart of downtown Waunakee, we specialize in sci-fi and fantasy reads — though if dragons and spells and space aren't your thing yet, that's okay. We stock stories for every kind of reader. And between the two of us, we definitely have a book recommendation or two… or seven… that'll draw you right in. We can't wait to read together. |
Our values
Sharing the joy of physical books
The things you love should take up space in your life. Your shelf is a reflection of your personality, values, and journey — and the perfect book recommendation is a point of real connection.
Creating community
We believe exchanging stories helps us see each other and build stronger community ties. Soulbound is a warm, welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
Shopping small and protecting your privacy
Independent booksellers have a long tradition of protecting reading choices. Your purchase history stays with us. We will not disclose it to any third party except as required by a valid, legally compelled process — and we don't build behavioral profiles, track your reading habits for advertising, or sell your personal information. Period.
Our story
We're two sisters who love books — about 70% of what we talk about every day. Because we came to reading in different ways, we bring a more personal approach to curation at Soulbound. Katie found herself naturally retreating to books from a young age, while Elizabeth didn't get into reading until she could choose stories that actually spoke to her — not just what she felt she was "supposed" to read. This is one reason sci-fi and fantasy are especially meaningful to us. Creating a whole new world is an underappreciated art form that can draw readers from all backgrounds. After experiencing corporate burnout in our independent careers, we took the leap to make our shared bookstore dream come true in 2026 — and to show our kids that if you're passionate about something, it's worth taking a chance. | ![]() |
