Effective Date: May 7, 2026
At Soulbound Books LLC, we believe that what you read is your own business — and we mean that literally. Reader privacy is a core value, not an afterthought. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.soulboundbooks.com or purchase from us, how we use it, and the meaningful commitments we make to protect it.
Please read this policy carefully. By using our website, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide Directly

- Session cookies used to maintain your shopping cart (see Section 6)
C. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not build behavioral profiles or track your reading habits for advertising purposes. We do not use targeted advertising, retargeting pixels, or sell access to your data to data brokers. Your purchase history with us stays with us.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
- Fulfilling and shipping your physical book orders
- Sending order confirmations, shipping notices, and customer service communications
- Processing returns, exchanges, and refunds
- Maintaining your account and purchase history (accessible to you through your account)

- Complying with applicable law and responding to lawful legal process
We will not use your information for purposes materially different from those listed above without first providing you notice and, where required by law, obtaining your consent.
3. Reader Privacy — Our Core Commitment
Independent booksellers have a long-standing tradition of protecting the reading choices of their customers. We take that tradition seriously. Accordingly:
- We will not disclose your book-purchase history to any third party except as required by valid, legally compelled process (e.g., a court order or lawful subpoena). If compelled to disclose, we will notify you to the extent permitted by law and applicable court orders before disclosure.
- We will not voluntarily produce records of what you have purchased to law enforcement without legal process.
- We will not sell, rent, or trade your purchase history or reading habits to any third party for marketing or any other commercial purpose.
4. How We Share Information
A. Service Providers
We work with trusted third-party vendors to operate our website and fulfill orders, including payment processors, merchandise retailer, consumer direct fulfillment, shipping carriers, and email service providers. These vendors receive only the information necessary to perform their services, and are contractually prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.
B. Third-Party Platforms — Audiobooks and E-Books
Our website links to third-party platforms for digital formats: audiobooks via Libro.fm and e-books via Bookshop.org. When you click through to either platform to make a purchase, you are leaving our website and your transaction is governed by that platform’s own privacy policy and terms of sale. We encourage you to review:
- Libro.fm Privacy Policy — available at libro.fm
- Bookshop.org Privacy Policy — available at bookshop.org
We receive limited referral information from these platforms in aggregate form. We do not receive individual transaction data or your account information from them.
C. Legal Compliance and Safety
We may disclose information when required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Soulbound Books LLC, our customers, or the public. See also Section 3 regarding our reader-privacy commitments.
D. Business Transfers
If Soulbound Books LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, customer information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your personal information is subject to a different privacy policy under such circumstances.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes, period.
5. Data Retention and Disposal
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining transaction records for tax and accounting purposes as required by law. When we no longer need your information, we dispose of it securely in a manner that makes it unreadable and unrecoverable, consistent with Wisconsin Statutes § 134.97 governing the disposal of records containing personal information.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Section 7).
6. Data Security
We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction. Our payment processing is handled by PCI-DSS compliant third-party processors, and we do not store full payment card data on our servers.
In the event of a data breach involving your personal information, we will notify you as required by Wisconsin Statutes § 134.98 (Wisconsin’s data breach notification law). Notification will be made in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay.
No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
Access and Correction: You may access and update the personal information in your account at any time through your account settings, or by contacting us at info@soulboundbooks.com.
Deletion: You may request that we delete your account and associated personal data by emailing info@soulboundbooks.com. We will honor deletion requests promptly, subject to our obligation to retain certain records required by law.

Data Portability: Upon request, we will provide you with a copy of the personal information we hold about you in a commonly used, machine-readable format.
Wisconsin residents should be aware that Wisconsin does not currently have a comprehensive consumer data privacy statute. However, Soulbound Books LLC voluntarily adheres to the data minimization, transparency, and opt-out principles reflected in comparable consumer privacy frameworks as part of our commitment to reader privacy.
8. Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at info@soulboundbooks.com and we will delete it promptly.
